the pain and uselessness of it all

Leaving Meg and Jamies' on Tuesday night, my foot rolled on the pavement and I tok a tumble. I was holding Torby at the time and he got dropped and cut his head open. We went back inside to deal with that (Yay for Miss Pip being there and using her nurse powers for good). My foot was still a bit sore and getting a bit swollen so we grabbed an icepack.

Got home, foot still sore. put Torby into bed and hobbled to couch to watch some tv (yay Gilmore Girls S.5). Still sore
Went to bed and slept badly due to, you guessed it, the sore foot.

Woke up this morning to a very very sore and swollen foot. Wisely decided that we would drop Torby back at Meg & Jamies and go to the hospital to get it checked out.
We folowed Meg's suggestion of going to Balmain Hospital rather than RPA. Blamian have a Casualty department but don't take Ambulances. It was a cunning plan. Relatively quick and nice people.

So..long ramble short..I have broken my 5th metatarsel and have a cast on my foot and crutches. Have appointmemt at fracture clinic at RPA on Monday for a further look and they will decide if I get a more permanent cast or some pins or something else. Oh the giddy anticipation.

Also still a bit upset about the 'dropping my son on his head onto rough asphalt' thing. The lovely MrNw is tending to my every need as I'm particularly useless now. Poor poor MrNw shall be even more exhausted by this than I will be I suspect.

Oh dear - that's not good, and you made a lot less fuss and consequently got a lot less sympathy than he did. At least the cast should fix that. You could sue Marrickville council for the rough pavement and end up with squillions though.

BTW, I've just been reading the "Miss Read" books, in which she makes the point that children always cut their heads *open* - so much more dramatic that just cutting their heads. One imagines oozing brains.

Hope you feel better soon.

you poor things - ow a lot for both of you. Let us know if you need any help. I hope it all goes well at RPA and they don't want to stick anymore pins or anything in...

Ouch, notice though, how Torby got a bop on the head and you broke a bone. Mothers always sustain more damage. Hugs to you all.

Oh my, I can totally sympathise! Hope all goes well for you. As a mum, it's not nice when your kids get hurt but sometimes it is unavoidable. Hugs to both of you!

Hey poor you! that's the same bone I broke at Mim and Richard's. Owe I know just how sore that is. Be a good girl and stay off it for as long as they say. I did that with my right foot and it healed beautifully. Did my left 12yrs earlier, was not so good and it still gives me trouble.
